2014 Academy Awards

The 2014 Academy Awards were presented a few days ago. Better known as the Oscars. They were presented in the Dolby Theatre. It was the 86th show. Ellen Degeneres was the hostess of the night. She hosted the show once before in 2007.This awards honor the best of cinematography every year.

The most interesting category for me this year was ''Best Picture''. They were many great movies nominated, so it was very hard to guess to could've win. Actually, Ellen predicted the movie ''12 Years a Slave'' was going to be the winner. In the end, she was right, it won. ''12 Years a Slave'' won for '' Best Picture''. There were also other categories I enjoyed. I really loved that Jared Leto, my crush, won for ''Best Supporting Actor''. I loved his performance in ''Dallas Buyers Club''!

The movie industry is important to me personally. I really enjoy watching movies and talking about them. Some movies I've seen, have taught me many things. They've taught me I should value what I have right now. They've also taught me about the importance of life, also those who surround you and love you. Maybe, some movies are just for fun. Some of them don't have a certain teaching.

Brain Death

I recently read an article about a pregnant woman who was declared 'brain dead'. She is taking care of the baby even though she is brain dead. Her name was Robyn Benson. The doctors kept her on a ventilator until they can deliver the baby. Her husband, Dylan Benson, wanted the doctors to deliver his baby. The other case I read, was pretty much the same, but the family didn't want her to be on a life support machine.

It is important for all members of a society to recognize important points of truth. In the first case, many people wanted to help the husband by donating money. In the second case, the woman's family wanted to disconnect her from the ventilator. If the woman is already dead, they should be taking care of the baby she is about to give life to. They shouldn't be trying to kill someone else, besides the pregnant woman. If you decide to disconnect the ventilator, you would be ruining a baby's life, whuch hasn't even started.

This is my opinion about how we should react to this case. I think this law is kind of a good thing. If this would've happened to me, I would've wanted them to deliver my baby, giving him or her a life. Maybe instead of connecting her right away, they should ask for the family's permission or the husband's permission. Some women might not want the doctors to keep using their bodies after their death. So, in my opinion, they should first get permission. Then, if they get the permission, they should take care of the baby inside the pregnant woman until they deliver them.
